My 1982 Toyota SR5 4×4: A Photo Showcase

1982 Toyota 4x4 Pickup

I’ve been asked to show some pictures of my 1982 Toyota pickup. But let it be known – as you will see – that I’m no photographer. I’m either too lazy, impatient, or busy to wait for the perfect lighting on an ideal day and time. I’ve come to terms with this lack of ability or willingness to take a good picture, because it lines up well with not having any photo editing skills either. This works out perfect considering that I always feel a bit weird circling my own vehicle just to take a few pictures. But, here we are. And… here you go.

For those that are curious, the wheel and tire setup is pretty straight forward. 31”x10.5” Mickey Thompson Baja Legend MTZ tires on 15” American Racing Baja aluminum wheels. The 31” tires allow the truck to run without a lift kit.

This color combination Toyota used is sometimes referred to as a “black and tan” or “black and beige” scheme. This two-toned scheme is what this particular truck came with from the factory, but was repainted during restoration. This color scheme was only available on SR5 models in 1982, and used the two-tone paint code of 2C6. This code represents to the combination of colors used, with the front upper body color consisting of tan/beige (4A8), and the rear lower body color is gloss black (202). Toyota used paint for the gradient coloring between the two main colors, but mine like many other restorations, use vinyl decals. When you see it in person, it is not uncommon for your eyes (including mine) to play tricks, where you might think that the black is actually a dark chocolate brown. I think this happens because of how it plays up against the beige colors, and gradient decals. And yes, the image below and seen in other photos on this post is an actual Toyota Pickup brochure from 1982.
